Netherlands EURO 2024 Star Insists Inter Milan ‘Will Try To Hurt’ Juventus In Serie A Showdown
Stefan de Vrij feels that Inter Milan “will try to hurt” Juventus in this evening’s Serie A Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus.
The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s match. He also stressed the stopping Bianconeri striker Dusan Vlahovic is something the entire team must do.
This evening, Inter take on Juventus in the first Derby d’Italia of the season.
Matches between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are always huge occasions.
And this evening, as is so often the case, there is a strong sense that the result could have a major impact in the Serie A title race.
Inter and Juventus are the two teams chasing Napoli at the top of the table. And just a couple points separate them at the moment.
Stefan De Vrij: “Inter Will Try To Hurt Juventus” In Derby D’Italia
So far this season, Inter have relied far more on their prolific attack than any defensive strength.
The Nerazzurri have been conceding more goals over the first few months of the campaign than they did last time around.
Juventus, on the other hand, have made their defense the bedrock of their climb up the table.
Remarkably, the Bianconeri have conceded just one goal over the first eight matches of the campaign. On the other hand, their attack has not always looked overly convincing.
Inter defender de Vrij said that “Clearly they’re excellent defensively this season.”
“They work well as a team,” the Dutchman said of Juventus’s defensive strength. “You can see that in how few goals they’ve conceded.”
“We know how good they are. But we’ll try to hurt them.”
“We have a lot of desire,” de Vrij continued. “It’s a huge match in front of our fans. We want to have a great match.”
Meanwhile, de Vrij also gave his thoughts on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. “He’s among the best strikers out there.”
“He has great movement in the area,” the Dutchman said of Vlahovic.
“Half a chance is enough for him and he plays on the edge of the defensive line. We need to defend well as a team.”
