Revealed – Why Albania Star To Miss Out On Inter Milan Starting XI For Serie A Clash Vs Juventus
Kristjan Asllani will miss out on the Inter Milan starting eleven against Juventus due to fitness reasons.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that Piotr ZIelinski will get the nod in holding midfield. But this will be a fitness-related choice rather than a technical one.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is having to cope without midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu this evening.
The Turk’s absence is hardly ideal for a fixture as important as the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.
Calhanoglu is a key player in the holding midfield role for Inter.
But the former AC Milan midfielder does have a natural backup in the squad. At least on paper.
Asllani is a player who is comfortable playing at the base of midfield.
Therefore, it would theoretically make the most sense for the Albanian to start in Calhanoglu’s absence.
And Inter coach Simone Inzaghi even confirmed yesterday that he was ready to go with Asllani.
But that would be contingent on one thing.
Kristjan Asllani Unlikely To Start For Inter Vs Juventus Due To Fitness-Related Reasons
Despite Inzaghi giving a vote of confidence to Asllani in his press conference yesterday, the Gazzetta report that the 22-year-old will not be in the starting eleven this evening.
Rather, it will be former Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.
Holding midfield is not necessarily Zielinski’s best position. But the 30-year-old is a versatile player, and has played their for the Polish national team.
According to the Gazzetta, Zielinski starting is not the result of Inzaghi lacking trust in Asllani or option for Zielinski’s greater experience.
Rather, the newspaper report, Asllani is still not at his best physically speaking.
The former Empoli midfielder has missed both of Inter’s matches since the international break. He sustained a knock in training, and has been unable to feature against Roma or Young Boys.
Asllani is back in training. But according to the Gazzetta, he is still not at 100% as he is feeling some discomfort in his knee.
Therefore, the newspaper anticipate, Inzaghi will opt for Zielinski in the starting eleven this evening.
