The school rally for disaster risk reduction and education for sustainable development consists of a series of training modules through the organization of practical workshops. 200 students from 40 schools in the city of Les Cayes will participate.
Through this rally, students will visit ecological sites, learn first aid gestures and the transformation of waste into useful objects. They will also learn how to implement school emergency plans and community and family evacuation plans. They will also participate in reforestation efforts by planting seedlings
The leaders of the various institutions involved in this Rally, indicated that this activity aims to raise awareness among participants on the values, attitudes and behaviors of responsible citizens, particularly with regard to environmental protection and reducing the risks of natural disasters that frequently affect the country.
This will also be an opportunity for the Ministry of the Environment to launch the second edition of the “Eco-genius” competition, in which students from nearly thirty schools in the Great South are expected to participate.
