He stated in the announcement that the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, clearly expressed her support for Montenegro and positively evaluated the progress achieved, sending a strong message to all those who baselessly tried to present the Government as anti-European and distant from the path of European integration. .
“Her statement exposes the real commitment of Montenegro to the European future and challenges the voices of those who would rather see us frozen in the past, according to the cuts of their retrograde, nationalist and me, then me seams. Today’s Government has shown a clear vision and determination to place Montenegro on the European path as the next member of the EU. In the last 11 months, enormous progress has been achieved, including reforms in the field of rule of law, strengthening of transparency and economic stability. Yesterday, von der Leyen paid an official visit to Montenegro. She met with President Jakov Milatović and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, and together with Spajić she opened the Government’s Security and Operations Center.
Bogdanović said that those who constantly attacked the reforms and accused the government of an anti-European course can hardly challenge the results that were recognized by the EC yesterday.
“These reforms, which are harmonized with European standards, confirm our commitment to integration and cooperation with EU institutions, while the fight against organized crime and corruption strengthens the trust of our citizens and international partners. That’s why all those who slander our country in front of the EU and other countries have received a European slap in the face from which it is clear that those who are trying to attribute an anti-European character to this government do not want Montenegro in the EU and are doing everything to slow it down on that path is looking forward. Our ambition for European integration is clear and persistent,” said Bogdanović.
He also said that “yesterday’s praise is not just recognition for past work – it is a confirmation that Montenegro is moving forward, and at a pace that the EU sees and appreciates”.
“This progress gives all of us an incentive to persevere and continue on the path that will make Montenegro the European country we all wish for,” concluded Bogdanović.
