BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. President of the
Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has approved several agreements
signed with Pakistan, Trend reports.

The relevant documents include the “Agreement on Preferential
Trade between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of
Pakistan,” the “Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and
the Government of Pakistan on Transit Trade,” and the “Agreement
between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Pakistan
on Air Services,” which were signed on July 11, 2024, in Islamabad,
Pakistan.

The preferential trade agreement aims to boost trade between the
two countries by reducing tariffs and customs duties on specific
products. The agreement proposes tariff reductions and, in some
cases, complete elimination of tariffs on certain goods,
facilitating smoother bilateral trade. The implementation of this
agreement is expected to enhance trade volumes, open new markets,
and deepen economic cooperation.

The transit trade agreement serves as a strategic document aimed
at strengthening international trade relations and facilitating the
transit of goods. Under this agreement, Pakistan gains quicker and
more efficient access to European and Central Asian markets through
Azerbaijan. Conversely, Azerbaijan utilizes trade routes from
Pakistan to improve access to South Asian and Chinese markets.

The “Agreement on Air Services between the Government of the
Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic
of Pakistan” aims to expand air transport connections between the
two nations and ensure regular flights. The agreement facilitates
direct air transportation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, focused
on strengthening trade, business, and tourism links. Additionally,
the development of air services is expected to include cargo
transport, enhancing cultural, tourist, and business ties between
the countries.
