Wiz Khalifa has landed himself in serious trouble in Romania. The singer was caught smoking cannabis onstage even though it’s illegal in the country.

Romanian authorities have indicted Wiz Khalifa as the 37-year-old rapper was found to be indulging in drugs. He was arrested and charged with illegal drug possession in July after smoking marijuana onstage at the Beach, Please! festival in Costinești.

Wiz Khalifa indicted on drug charges

As the investigation into the matter is through, the country’s anti-organized crime prosecutors organisation DIICOT, confirmed that the indictment has been sent “to court for trial.”

A press release from the organisation said Wiz Khalifa was indicted on October 15 for “committing the crime of possession of dangerous drugs, without the right, with a view to consumption [of his] own.”

As per reports, Wiz Khalifa was found with 18.53 grams of cannabis on him, as well as a cannabis cigarette.

Wiz Khalifa apologised for smoking onstage and maintains that he didn’t intend to “disrespect” anyone. At the time, he wrote on X: “Last nights [sic] show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”

Wiz Khalifa has several high profile cannabis brands in the United States and often regularly posts on X about the amount of weed he smokes. He operates Khalifa Kush, a cannabis brand built around a strain of weed developed specifically for the brand in the early 2010s. In 2023, Wiz Khalifa wrote that he planned to get high before throwing the first pitch at a baseball game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Guardians.
