Three squads have been selected to be a part of the upcoming EU Nations Water Polo Cup tournaments in Brno, Czechia in the coming weeks.

It starts off with a Great Britain’s U18 Men’s side, who head out to Central Europe this weekend, looking to build on their momentum from the Summer.

England’s senior men will then enter the senior men’s competition from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 November before an England U18s women’s side compete in the junior women’s competition from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 November.

The GB junior men’s side will be giving a number of athletes the experience of featuring at an international competition.

They’ve been drawn in Group B, the second of two groups of five alongside Slovakia, Estonia, Ukraine and Belgium.

They’ll face each side once with the final placings deciding what position they’ll play for in their final game on Sunday.

Great Britain open up the competition with games against Slovakia and Estonia on Friday before facing Belgium and Ukraine on Saturday.

Scotland will also be competing in the event and will be facing Czechia, Lithuania, Moldova and Denmark in Group A.

Each of the matches will be streamed live on the ‘Czech Water Polo’ YouTube channel whilst the full schedule and results of the matches can be found here.

‘An excellent opportunity’

Speaking on the team selections, Swim England Water Polo Programme Lead, Craig Figes, said: “It’s a really busy couple of months for each of the teams and this event provides an excellent opportunity for them to refine their skills ahead of their remaining competitions in 2024 and heading towards the European Championships in 2025 and beyond.

“For the U18 junior men’s side, they head out to Brno looking to build on the momentum from their training camp in Hungary in the Summer.

“It’s a fantastic chance for them to continue their development as they prepare for the European Championships next year, taking on international opposition from across the continent.

“I know how hard each of the athletes and the volunteer staff have been working and wish them the best of luck for the tournament.”

Further details for each of the events will be available on the EU Nations website with the full schedule of the senior men’s and junior women’s competition to be released closer to the event.
