Boeing posts $6 billion loss for July-September US aircraft giant Boeing says it posted a net loss of 6.17 billion dollars in the July to September quarter. An ongoing strike affected the loss.

Wednesday’s announcement represents the firm’s ninth straight loss. It’s the largest since the quarter ending in December 2020, when demand for air transportation plunged due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Another factor behind the latest loss is the delay in delivery of the next-generation 777X, which Boeing says will be the world’s largest twin-engine jet.

The strike, the first in 16 years for Boeing, has affected production and delivery of its planes. Some 33,000 workers went on strike on September 13, after negotiations on wages and other issues stalled.

Workers vote Wednesday on a new contract proposal from the company that includes a 35 percent wage increase over four years. The result will likely be available the same day.
