A South Korean court has fined Suga, a member of popular K-pop band BTS, for driving an electric scooter while drunk.
A district court in Seoul sentenced Suga to a fine of 15 million won, or about 11,500 dollars, in a summary order dated last Friday.
The pop star was referred to prosecutors for allegedly driving a scooter under the influence of alcohol on August 6 in Seoul. Prosecutors later summarily indicted him.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that his blood alcohol concentration at the time of the incident was measured at nearly three times the level that is subject to the revocation of a driver’s license.
Suga has admitted to the charge and apologized, saying he is deeply sorry for disappointing and hurting his fans.
