Honda unveils next-generation EV technologies Honda Motor has unveiled the technologies for its new electric vehicles set to launch worldwide in 2026.
These advancements will be part of its new “Zero series” EV lineup.

The Japanese firm says it is aiming to boost production efficiency, reduce vehicle weight and utilize the latest technologies.

It aims to achieve a range of 480 kilometers or more with a single charge by cutting vehicle weight. Thinner battery cases will also mean room for more.

Smaller major parts and a simpler body structure will drop about 100 kilograms off the total weight.

The use of megacasting technology in the battery case manufacturing process will boost efficiency, and fewer parts will also cut costs.

Honda says the new EVs will be equipped with a self-driving system using AI, which can monitor the driver’s condition and say when it’s time for a break.

Honda President Mibe Toshihiro expressed his commitment to plan for the future.

“With our scale, we can’t survive unless we create new global value,” Mibe said. “We hope to expand our Zero series, and I’m certain that the direction we’re taking for the series is correct.”

Honda plans to introduce the new Zero EV series in North America, Asia and Europe starting in 2026.
It’s aiming for a lineup of seven models available worldwide by 2030.
