Harris holds rally in Georgia, criticizes Trump US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has held a rally in the battleground state of Georgia. She appealed for voters’ support, while criticizing her Republican rival Donald Trump.

Harris delivered a speech in Atlanta on Saturday, about two weeks before the presidential vote.

She stated that Democrats are focused on the future, while Trump is focused on the past, adding, “We are not going back.”

She said Trump is “only focused on himself.”

A 55-year-old woman at the venue described Harris’s speech as “very powerful.” Asked about what was most impressive in her speech, she cited Harris’s comment, “We need to move forward. Turn the page.” The woman said she will vote on Sunday during the state’s early voting period.

Republican presidential candidates have mostly won in Georgia since 1996. But in the previous election in 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump by a narrow margin in the state for the Democrats’ first victory in 28 years.

The latest polls show the contest in Georgia is neck and neck. Harris has an average support rate of 47 percent, while Trump’s is 48.8 percent.

Harris will hold another rally in Georgia on Thursday, in which former President Barack Obama is also scheduled to take part. Obama is still very popular among Democrats.
