Can’t believe actual people are still using Musk’s social media platform. What a cesspool.

  2. And how this change puts anyone at risk? Everyone can see twitter posts even if they are blocked they can see posts without loging in and even if twitter force them to login no one is stopping them from creating second account. This whole topic is just standard nothing-burger topic created by media to divert attention from other topics.

  3. If something is posted on the internet then it is public anyway. Trying to block some users from looking at something others can see is pointless

  4. I don’t think it changes anything. People can just open a new account anyway to see posts. But it’s a dumb change anyway.

I’m still dying to know what information you can only get on X? I’ve never really used it even with an account. The only time I see tweets is when news is reporting various “hot takes” from users.

  6. Serious question, if this puts you in definite danger why wouldn’t you just delete your profile or remove the app like 99% of the world?

All they had to do was allow only Elon to view blocked posts and they would have accomplished their task.

  8. I setup a Twitter account way the fuck back when it was not a thing. But left it about a year ago and it’s fine. Do I miss some of the more interesting people I’d follow? No.

  9. On any site, a blocked user can make an alt account and see your public content. If you were depending on a social media site’s block button for your personal safety, that’s on your dumb ass

  10. Nobody is forced to use it. Twitter is gone. X is not the same. Abandon that dumpster fire.

  11. Blocking never worked. It’s like pretending someone doesn’t exist who is still staring in your bedroom window with impunity.

  12. It’s literally a nothingburger change. Just turn on private mode and wow, you can see their posts. Or login to another account.

But I guess saying it will put people in danger will sell ads or something.

  13. I gotta say, of all the complains about X, this is one I’m mixed on. Tweeting is releasing it to the public at large (except dms).

If you only want selective people to see it, that’s what things like google+ circles or facebook lists are for.

I can’t put up a billboard and expect 1% of the people driving by to not see it.

  14. At this point, if you’re still using Twitter it’s your own damn fault this stuff happens. Don’t stand in a fire and complain you’re getting burned. That’s what fire does.

The simple solution is to move away from Twitter, very obvious, it’s been very obvious. I feel bad for the people that invested so much time and energy using Twitter as their social media platform to gain a following, but there has to be a point where if this policies is affecting you, if it’s endangering your life, you should say enough is enough and you delete your account.

  16. This is like the 5th time he’s threatened to do this.

    I’m not buying it.

Probably just trying to stir people up and it’s working.
    Glorified troll being a troll.

  17. Man, I only use this to check Wario64 but I’m done now.

Guess I’ll follow him on Threads

This is really awful from the experience of somebody being stalked or harassed. There were always technical workarounds, but blocks like this prevented a lot of harassment.

  19. As someone who was/has been stalked/harassed and had lies spread about me, this is terrible. It just opens the door wider for more heckling and bullying/trolling.

Great, so now people who have blocked their stalkers can’t use their social media as social media anymore because their stalkers can now trace their whereabouts from their posts and photos again.

    YAY!
