The article doesn’t say exactly how he died but one of those most common things that kills people is trying to bench press and then reaching failure and being unable to lift the bar. And having a bar crush your chest or neck is a unfortunate killer of many.
So if anyone who benches at the gym remember; don’t put the clips on the bar to hold the weights in place if you’re working out alone. You can tilt the weights off if things go south. Many newbies at the gym put the clips on, which is a mistake.

Seeing photos outside the gym, two ambulances and a police car. Is the fact there were two of any significance?

I don’t like to speculate but this sort of things sounds like cardiac arrest; probably a genetic condition like ARVC, it’s one of the highest killers in young healthy individuals who suddenly die unexpectedly.

In the First World War it worried the UK authorities that some conscripts died when exercising, presumably from heart defects or similar.

I hate how vague articles like this are these days.
Man dies in gym followed in the article by “and incident happened afte the was using gym equipment” usually this sort of thing could be a catalyst to share awareness and maybe help people not make the same mistakes or help each other out.
Instead we are sat here guessing and speculating. Someone could walk into a gym right now having read the same article and make the exact same mistake and also pass.
