It’s actually crazy how society isn’t taking addiction to this as a serious problem.

  2. The pipeline to porn for young teens is crazy.

Many ‘funny’ YouTube channels will have famous female pornstars or smaller OF girls involved in their videos. (20V1 dating challenge type videos).
YouTube shorts will feature pornstars in skits etc.
    Sidemen,Trevor Wallace,cherdleys etc.

I don’t have tiktok but id imagine that’s the same.

Obviously Young fellas are going to find it anyway but the aggressive ‘advertising’ of it on non porn channels doesn’t really sit well with me.

The normalisation of vile pornography is one of the worst things to happen to society. It has warped and ruined so many young lives.

  4. The amount of violence against women in porn is really shocking to me as a woman. I think many men grow up thinking choking, hair pulling, pushing, slapping, bruising, aggressively grabbing etc is a totally normal part of sex.

Just look at the front page of pornhub. Some of the top videos promoted look like straight up rape. There are whole channels devoted to portraying women in pain from sex

The normalisation of choking women during sex because of violent porn needs to be addressed.

there is nothing vanilla about cutting off the blood flow to someones brain and putting them at risk of stroke and embolism, especially many people expecting it by default and just doing it with no prior consent.

I’ve been hurt by partners who think that’s just what normal sex is.
teens are doing it to girls on the regular

  7. Do they actually show a causative link between watching depictions of violence in porn and increased violence towards women? Or is this violence in video games all over again?

Like if anything the inverse seems just as likely to be true, depictions of violence in porn are cathartic and reduce violence towards women. I think it’s at least fair to say that historically the societies that had strictest attitudes to porn treated women pretty badly.

Shit parenting, zero accountability amongst male friend groups, dismissive gardaí and a lax approach by the judiciary are the cause of our sexual assault/rape rate being triple the EU average (a statistic that predates recent immigration, so shut up in advance).

“It’s a violent pornography, choking chicks and sodomy. The kinda shit you get on your tv…” SOAD

  10. The GF was out with her friends at the weekend, and some were complaining about how “vanilla” or boring their partners are in the bedroom.

    Some they are married to…

Then the nobodies that took to Onlyfans and made millions.

  11. The section on porn in Caitlin Morans book ‘What about Men’ should be mandatory reading for teenage boys.

One thing you never hear about porn addiction too is how it messes up your brain, absolutely kills motivation in excess I’ve found.

If you go off and have 4/5 wanks a day, I find my brain is like absolute mush. When I was younger , my head was definitely fried from too much porn and wanking but it is hard to stop, it’s a great stress reliever and easy to do.

  13. Just like video games are making men violent as well?

I’d say 50 shades of grey had the most negative impact as it broke nearly every rule possible in a dom/sub relationship. Before meeting my wife if I met a woman on a night out they would sometimes want to ‘try things’ with no prior discussion, consent, safe words and I noped out each and every time.

The main issue is adults get into a heated state when it is suggested maybe kids should have a real sex education. We don’t teach anyone regardless of age the most pleasurable part of sex is feeling completely safe with the person you choose to have sex with, this has to start with teaching everyone it’s okay to say no to something you’re not comfortable with. We need to teach people to communicate before and during sex.

  14. God, it must get exhausting to constantly feel victimised by society. Ban everything that you don’t agree with. Bla.

  15. I read somewhere that porn can cause impotence because of high dopamine levels you get from watching long term your manhood isn’t really needed and only lasts a few seconds when you are riding some one, now I am open to correction on this but like any addiction it surely would cause some affects long term

Have domestic/gendered violence rates actually gone up since internet porn became common? It’s obviously terrible whenever it happens, but is it actually happening more than it was 20-30 years ago?

Edit- Correlation between misogyny and violent porn use makes sense, but it’d be one thing if porn was turning boys into violent misogynists versus if such people are just able to seek it out now

  17. The amount of porn available to young teens these days is craxy. Its not good as your sexuality is developing. Clicking on video after video
Its hard to stop but more awareness and education to young people is key.

  18. Everything is society is about the effects of this and that against females, its like males are a sub class.

Serious “won’t somebody thing of the children” vibes off this. Not saying porn consumption isnt bad but it is not directly responsible for men being women abusers. Maybe if serial rapists like McGreggor who young lads see as a martyr actually got punished for their crimes, we might see some sort of improvement in society?
