I have a stupid cousin as one of the people to get fired.

She started pretending that she just left her job because she wasn’t happy.

She really wasn’t happy when I pointed out this news to her. Which coincides with when she ‘quit’.

Really fucking stupid to do this over so little money and ruin a government pension and decent quality of life afforded by this job. Not to mention she probably is blacklisted from any government jobs in the future and no longer will be bondable.

  2. While people were seriously struggling, there always has to be a small minority to abuse the system 😠

But the 350 billion in corporate welfare was fine right?

330 employees, so $660,000. That doesn’t even buy 1 house.

This isn’t news it’s a distraction from where your tax dollars actually went.

  4. They should have just handed every Canadian a cheque and kissed the money goodbye.

Auditing costs significantly more than an untracked handout, that’s why so many social services have insane costs/administration, that’s why ‘some’ people advocate for a UBI because it’s mathematically cheaper than having everything audited.

When does spending $3 to hand out $1 make sense?

Not defending these employees, but when are we going to have some common sense?

Just imagine that number.  330.  Not a couple of employees that said let’s try it.  330.  That’s representative of the corruption in the public system.

It’s the stupidest crime to commit. You are employed by the very agency tasked with distributing benefits to the newly unemployed due to COVID-19 lockdowns and yet, you have the audacity to apply for those benefits while you are still employed. If you work for the CRA, do you not think they know you are working? I get that if you worked anywhere else, you may think that the CRA may not know (but there were additional boxes on T4 slips during the pandemic just for that purpose).

  7. Too bad they only stole thousands, if they had of stolen millions they could have kept their Liberal government positions.

Looks like they have some “grey” area cases where an individual was on maternity leave, medical leave, etc

  9. These would have been pretty easy to investigate. Its the millions handed out to businesses where we’ll likely never know what happened. “Its an emergency, just hand it money, we’ll figure it out later” except that later never comes when we’re talking about millions to ‘friends’ of the government.
