So it looks like the RCMP wanted to interview embassy staff, they invoked diplomatic privilege, and Canada had to kick them out. This was more timed by the timeline of the investigation rather than political considerations.

    > “The decision by the RCMP to go forward with that announcement was entirely anchored in public safety and a goal of disrupting the chain of activities that was resulting in drive-by shootings, home invasions and violent extortion and even murder in and across Canada,” Trudeau told the foreign interference inquiry on Wednesday.

    > Trudeau told the foreign interference commission that it would have been preferable to question the diplomats, but they refused to waive diplomatic immunity.

    > “If the RCMP had its druthers, it wouldn’t have revealed any of this. It’s just that it hit the threshold before it came out naturally in court through our judicial process,” the prime minister told the commission.

It’s NOT (edit) clear to me though how this links to Trudeau releasing the names of Conservative MP’s under investigation, how they are involved in this, or whether it is an entire seperate case.

Interesting to hear that India has followed the Russian model of nationalizing crime. Modi’s government colluding with international Indian crime organization to do dirty work in exchange for limited prosecution. Pretty bleak.

  3. It’s starting to feel like this is leading to why CPC wanting an election a month or two ago. While liberals wanted to ride it out till the end.
