  1. I don’t really understand the difference between being Serbian American of Serbian origin and American of Serbian origin.

EDIT: I did a little research, he was born in Austria Hungary, had Austrian nationality, but that region is nowadays Croatia, but he was ethnically Serbian, and then became an American citizen. So yeah, it’s a mess

Don’t understand why it’s so confusing for people : He was a naturalised American national, born in Kingdom of Croatia then part of Austrian Empire, therefore of Croatian origin, but he was an ethnic Serb. He definitely wasn’t of Serbian origin since he never lived there and wasn’t born there. Ethnic Serbs live in other places too, not only in Serbia.

  3. Someone should do this with Marie Curie and not mention Polen at all. just too see them flip out

  4. what is with Tesla and his “superhuman” credit? I mean… wireless transfer of electricity? come ooooon

  5. wikipedia fucking sucks, also he was serbian (PS I don’t like serbians but Tesla was a genius who deserves more praise than he gets)

    What does Serbian-American mean here?
    a) born in America (US or anywhere in America?) with Serbian parents
    b) Moved to America and gained nationality, was born in Serbia
    c) born in Serbia and American parents

EDIT: okay so he was American, moved to Croatia and had family roots in Serbia? Then only the Croatian version is correct.

  7. 🤓 Akhtually, he was born in the Realm of St.Stephen and thus he’s a Hungarian! /jk, Croatia was reattached to Hungary when he was 11-12, he was an ethnic Serbian from the nation of Croatia, who fled to the USA

This is false. The German Wikipedia article does not ~~claim he’s German~~ leave his heritage unspecified. In fact it states very clearly that he was born “near Gospic, in what is today Croatia”.

Edit: Corrected a misunderstanding on my behalf.

Okay, time to request services of a spirit medium to settle this once for all!

Might need to replace the crystal ball with a Tesla coil to ensure he picks the call up.

  11. Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan, at the time a part of the Austrian empire. Smiljan is located in Croatia not Serbia. Tesla never, as far as I am aware, cared about his origin. He had citizenship of Austria and America. So a born Austrian, who eventually became an American. Not Croatian, nor Serbian. I would rather call him a Yugoslav, but that’s me.

  12. Tesla was a weird fella, he was ethnically Serbian, born in Croatia and lived his life in the US, super weird.
