V-1605 “Mosel” went down only minutes after this picture was taken and took 21 crew with her. She now sits at a depth of 50m and has become a recreational diving site.
Gadoliner on
This may have been the situation my great uncle has been in. He told me, he was on such boat. An English aeroplane had been shot down and they went speed onto him to get the pilot, but got under fire. Later a German Arado water aeroplane came, landed, took the English pilots onboard, started, but in this phase other English fighter planes came back and shot the Arado down. All people inside the Arado were dead. My uncle was indignant because the Arado plane clearly bore red crosses.
