Follow-up on people looking for friends.

I feel that recently, there’s been an increasing number of posts on here and in the finnish speaking counterpart about people finding it difficult to make new friendships in adulthood, or as newcomers. The most recent one I saw had some people talking about a meetup in the comments, but these kinds of things often mount to nothing.

I however decided to give organising a go. I sent a Google form to some of the folk from that recent post to check how many of the commenters might reasonably be interested and what type of meet up might work best. After seeing the general interest in some type of drinks and board games meetup, I will be working towards making it happen. There will be a link to the form later in this post for anyone else that is interested in meeting new people.

There are few things I would like to note about this meetup and the form itself to avoid misunderstandings:

1. The meet up will be for adults.
2. For logistical reason, I will try to keep the group size small (10-12 people) so that we can find a place with enough space for everyone and to make the arranging of this whole thing a bit more manageable. I will try to arrange multiple meetups if the number of interested people exceeds the size limits for this first try.
3. The meetup will probably cost each participant ~10€ depending on the place we are going to as the assumption for the venue is probably that everyone is having at least one drink or paying for table time if we go to a place like Cafe Boardgame.
4. Everyone who is interested will have to put in some kind of contact info into the form. If you want me to contact you on reddit, I need the link to your profile, if you want an email I need the address, the same logic applies for any other means of contact. (Adding this point for clarification since I got the odd “email” answer without an address in the contact info field).

The information you provide will not be used for anything besides organizing this meetup and the google form replies will be erased as soon as the event has concluded.

I will contact all responders by the end of the week with further information and inquiry on the availability of all participants. I will also be posting a follow-up on the meetup and information about potential second event once the first one has concluded.
