Stop breeding these killer dogs. We don’t need that “It’s not the breed, it’s the owner” bullshit here as well.

Hong Kong had a humane way of “phasing out” pitbulls. It did not punish current owners – so nobody’s pet was taken away or put down, and no dog owner was fined or jailed.
But it strictly prohibited the import or breeding of these dogs – which mostly punished the unethical breeders / traders of animals. So the existing pitbulls were allowed to die of old age.
There were still pitbulls in Hong Kong 20 years ago. I remember seeing one that was wildly untrained – with the kind of messed up young man who has such a dog – at a vet’s office. It was off-leash and clearly not appropriate for a crowded Asian city.
