The map of the German empire is on this sub multiple times a day, every day.
As a polish person, it honestly frightens me

It’s weird seeing Prussia, a German state that was quite literally married to Protestantism from the very beginning. Have such significant Catholic areas. I mean it makes sense once you know the history, but it’s strange seeing it on a map.

One of the reasons many German nationalists were opposed to Austria joining was also that it would have strengthened the catholic population. In the late 19th century there was internal conflict within nationalist circles whether catholics could fully support the German cause. They were perceived to be loyal to Rome.
