Fuck me, why do I have this feeling that what’s happening in Taiwan is what happened in Ukraine in the 2000s and 2010s? So much military threat from a powerful neighbour with the ambition of conquering it.

  2. I sure hope somebody else posts this map 65 more times over the next two days. I definitely haven’t seen it enough lately.

  3. If Trump wins, China is invading Taiwan and asking its vassal Putin to restrain its own vassal Trump.

  4. I thought sailing your warships in international waters is totally legal and okay? China didn’t complain two months ago when a bunch of western warships pass through the strait.

Think back to the 73 Middle East was. Egypt kept mobilizing and began moving towards the Suez Canal. Israel would in turn mobilize. This went on through several iterations until Israel decided it was an annoyance more than an actual attack. It had economic impact on Israel. They decided not to respond to last actions by Egypt. That’s when Egypt attacked.

Poor Taiwan, how the world turns a blind eye while this peaceful democracy is bullied by an aggressive wannabe imperial power next door is beyond me. Imagine the outrage if this was a western country to an ex colony. I bet the UN will turn a blind eye if China ever colonises them, would it do the same if a western country did that same?

Theoretically, the Chinese civil war has been going on from 1946 to the present day without any peace agreement or ceasefire agreement document. Today’s peace is only a ‘tacit ceasefire’ since 1979.

Wumao bots would be like “BaY of PiGs!” to justify this as they also say doing this is imperial genocide

Always amazed how the Matsu Islands, the Wuqiu Islands and Kinmen Islands, remain a part of Taiwan and have not been invaded/annexed by China. I’m not sure how well a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would go but these islands seem like they would be the first ones PRC takes back.

Didn’t they just elect, I mean assign a new leader ? This is just posturing that will lead to nothing
