Urmia, a city and its surroundings are in very similar fate to Karabakh in 1990s, loads of kurds have been accepted as refugees from Saddam Hussain massacres and now are inhabiting the area for 30+ years, they have made majority in some towns and are significant minority in urmia itself, 20% of the 736,000 populated Urmia city and around the same percentage of almost 4M populated West Azerbaijan province

the thing is not that they are only making large amount of the population and they are not natives, the thing is they are claiming true ownership of the area and iranian government is very supporting towards it

search the internet, you will start to believe urmia is a kurdish city, go there and you will see no kurdish city

the thing that makes it karabakh is that kurds are well armed and have foreign nationalist supporters(other kurdish groups in iraq, syria and even turkey), they have huge terrorist armies just over the border to iraq and should iranian government start to fail seriously, another jilo genocide awaits Azerbaijan

Jiloluq genocide: in short, in the years of ww1 Armenians and assurians and kurds came as refugees from ottoman empire, city walls were opened to them and as the night came in, tens of thousands of armed men came to streets and did genocide 150,000 people, if it was not for ottoman border guard(way closer than any qajar military post) death toll would have been much larger

links and sources: Jililuq[AA Persian]Southern Azerbaijani wikipedia, Jiluluq(arabic alphabet)

you can translate the persian sources wiith google translate and the azerbaijani sources with chatgpt

Azerbaijan's next karabakh is very dangerously close, Urmia

  1. I guess Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis will pay more attention to problems of South, once the peace deal signed

Wdym similar fate to kharabakh lmao, Armenians have always (up until last year) lived in Kharabakh, not migrated there for no reason.

And wtf is the fucking Jililoluq genocide, looked it up found nothing

I am afraid that its fate will be more similar to Yerevan, or worse, Yerevan but bloody like Karabakh

  4. It’s neither Kurdish nor Turkic. If Kurds are immigrants to west Azerbaijan as you claim, then Turks are also immigrants to west Azerbaijan. The natives would be the Talysh and Tats. If anyone should reclaim it, then them or other Iranics.
