  1. For such a huge event “2 tanks breaking the gates and injuring 15 UN people” the article is very thin on details… Why? What did they do once they entered? Did they stay?

It’s clear that Israel is making calculated gestures to pressure the UN to withdraw the peacekeepers.

In terms of public perception Israel doesn’t have much to lose anyway because they are hated by most of the world anyway.

  3. These guys are useless, I have just seen a video showing an entrance shaft to a tunnel placed just a few meters away from a UNIFIL post, they clearly turned a blind eye, were afraid of coflict with Hizbullah and gave them free reign in the south, just leave instead of being a sitting duck after helping to cause this conflict.

  4. UN staff participated in the Oct 7 atrocities, UN facilities hosted Hamas command centres and the UN dragged its feet on admitting that there was horrific sexual violence involved in Oct 7. What assurances do we have that anything UN-related in that region hasn’t been captured by terrorist entities and isn’t secretly helping Iran?

If they’re peacekeepers FR, they need to move out until the war that Iran started is over. UN can no longer be trusted.

  5. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.euronews.com/2024/10/13/netanyahu-says-un-peacekeepers-in-lebanon-should-be-moved-out-of-harms-way-immediately) reduced by 82%. (I’m a bot)

    > The UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, UNIFIL, has accused Israeli Defense Forces of destroying their main gate and causing mild injuries to at least 15 soldiers after Israeli troops "Forcibly entered" their position.

    > The allegation contained in a UNIFIL statement came after the Israeli prime minister called for the removal of the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon.

    > Earlier, the UN force accused Israeli soldiers of deliberately targeting the UNIFIL mission's Naqoura base, leaving many peacekeepers injured.

This is all the Sec Gen responsibility !

These “peace keepers” are nothing more than TERRORISTS enablers.

For almost two decades they did NOTHING but enable and provide cover for Hizbollah terrorists to arm themselves to the teeth.

Where were they for the past 12 months while Hizbollah TERRORISTS have been firing on Israeli civilians ?

Just today, over 115 rockets fired on Israeli civilians !

Israel asked the UN to evacuate a while back. It is now 100% Gutierrez’s responsibility.

It’s clear israel has invested heavily in social media bots (probably even from gpt2 days). You are definitely winning the reddit battle guys but losing heavily the larger war of perception across the world. This is not good for Israel as a country in the long term.

Lebanese army has withdrawn from its positions, why can’t UNIFIL too?

Why do they insist on staying in an active war zone of a war that’s not theirs? It makes no sense.

Why have UN peace keepers been allowing a foreign guerilla terrorist army (Hezbollah) to set up camp in this area to begin with?

  10. Israel is nudging the UN to withdraw our peacekeepers. Frankly if Russia were doing the same NATO would be nudging Israel back.

  11. UNIFIL is sitting right next to the hezbollah compounds. Compounds that could not exist if UNIFIL had done the bare minimum of what they were sent to do.

Honest question: WTF has UNIFIL been doing all these years?

    >Hours later, the force reported what it described as additional Israeli violations, including two Israeli Merkava tanks destroying the main gate of a base and forcibly entering before dawn that morning.

    >Soon after the tanks left, shells exploded 100 metres away, releasing smoke which blew across the base and sickened U.N. personnel, **causing 15 to require treatment despite wearing gas masks, it said. It did not say who fired the shells** or what sort of toxic substance it suspected.

    >It also accused Israel’s IDF military of halting a logistics convoy. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to the statement.”Any deliberate attack on peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and Resolution 1701,” the U.N. force said.

Reading between the lines seems to indicate that Hezbollah fired some sort of shells with a toxic/chemical substance that can injure people wearing gas masks. If Israel did it they surely would of called them out like the other two times. It was called in a previous tank position too.

Israel plays with fire. Netanyahu doesn’t understand that fighting islamic radicalism is a process, not a target. Thus no matter the efforts if they’re not steady, continuous and unrelenting. I just cannot imagine how Netanyahu sees the sustainability of current intensity. Besides that his efforts weaken the whole supporting diplomatic efforts that give a sense to the whole balance keeping mission.

Now no matter how intense the efforts, they’re nothing but trying to undo Israel’s all these years’ of total passivity and tolerance towards these extreme phenomena after the Iraq and Afghanistan escapade .

In fact I’d say that the current premise of the regional foreign policy of Netanyahu is totally counterproductive and harmful to the postulated goals of stability and i can bring as proof the facts that what Israel induced allied efforts fought was the organizational nature of the issue, hitting states and institutions, and the result is in fact a spreading of the grassroots foundation of the religious and ideological extremism. Gaza and Lebanon showed that one doesn’t need a statehood apparatus to concoct attack against Israel and allies, on the contrary.

Still Netanyahu continues to push for the same old strategy, but it’s insanity to do the same, the very same thing over and over again and expect different results.

You may cut the top as long as you level it up to the grass, then good luck with cutting the top each time one rears! Meanwhile when the larger tops give shade that naturally suppresses everything below, and they’re easily brought down, no need for the axe, just the wind of change.

Netanyahu’s genocidal dreams are not meant to come!

But this extremist fever is a natural phenomenon, that is triggered by an unexpected abundance of resources both time and financial for which people weren’t sufficiently prepared mentally.

  14. Show the video of the Hezbollah tunnel they found a few dozen meters away from the UNIFIL base and watchtower.

    Disgraceful.
