    That’s awful.

    >Strict controls on his diet meant he lost 4.5 stone (28kg) in two months.

I wonder what the diet was.

  2. “Earlier this year, 41-year-old Sarah Rigby, from Winsford in Cheshire, was given a 20-month prison sentence, suspended for two years”

I genuinely don’t know but it would be interesting to know what the “average” sentencing is for a similar level of abuse with the genders swapped.

One way or another for this specific case that doesn’t seem particularly punitive.

  3. Hats off to the guy for speaking up. We do need more awareness that women can be just as abusive as men.

  4. Utter psycho, feel really sorry for that guy.

1 in 6 is huge, and victims need somewhere where they can break out to. Lots of DV is abusers knowing their victim can’t escape as they have no other option

  5. Find it impossible to understand what it would be like to be in this situation. Credit to him for getting himself out of that situation. So many feel there’s just no escape.

Absolutely disgusting that she didn’t get prison time. Her abuse of him basically amounted to physical and psychological torture.

I hope he’s healing and surrounded by love and support.

  7. Why is this sentence not being referred for being too lenient? She deserves prison. Hopefully any man who meets her Google’s her name now and runs the other way. Nasty wretch.

The SFFP is complaining that he has been obliged to go to the woods to defecate.

  9. Women controlling men has been a subject of comedy for years. So much so, it’s been almost normalised. I have seen first hand (not me), a wife gaslighting her husband, which you could see took its toll mentally and physically on him.

I think what’s worse is the fact she told him that if he told anyone she would go to the police and say he abused her, and we all know who the police will believe in that situation, guilty until proved innocent if you’re a guy.

Zero prison time. Her behaviour will not change. The judge is essentially telling her she is free to go on and abuse other men, just make sure she doesn’t get caught.

  12. > Speaking five months after the sentencing, he said at first the relationship seemed “normal”, though in hindsight he could see that she was “overly affectionate”.
“I guess they call it love bombing,” he said.
“I thought ‘how can this person be so loving?’.
“I think it takes you aback… you think this could really be the one, and this could work out.
    “It was overly powerful.”
He gave up his apartment and moved in to Rigby’s home just four months after they met. It was then the abuse accelerated.

It’s quite impressive that something so pretty can also be manipulative and crazy at the same time.

  13. Even my clinically psychotic ex let me use the bathroom, though she would follow me there and stand outside the door listening just in case I tried to use my phone in there, this continued AFTER I broke up with her and it was MY house!

  14. My partners ex wife detached his retina and attempted to stab him. Luckily only sliced his hand as he put it up to protect himself. Police absolutely not interested and have treated him absolutely appallingly. If I had reported that level of violence as a woman they would have been all over it.

How male victims are treated is atrocious.

The people (presumably men) taking the piss out of this guy and joking about his loss of weight is one of the reasons why abuse of men is too often overlooked.
