  1. According to Numbeo crime rate in Belarus is also high: [https://www.numbeo.com/crime/rankings_by_country.jsp?title=2024-mid&region=150](https://www.numbeo.com/crime/rankings_by_country.jsp?title=2024-mid&region=150)

Why is Belarus crime rate so high according to these sources?

According to what I’ve read here and what I’ve watched on YouTube crime rate is not only low in Belarus but also Belarus is one of the safest countries in Europe when it comes to robbery, assault, murder, etc.

Why the discrepancy? Who is telling the truth?

  2. I don’t think this is accurate. I have friends in France and they don’t seem to complain much.

  3. Crime rate in Belarus is high. When it’s a real crime like theft or murder that is hard to investigate police pushes you to not press charges because a case that is not investigated will make them look bad and loose their bonuses.
If you really persist they will find some poor bastard to put the blame on just to close the case.
If you commit a crime against a policeman that it’s a whole different story — they really try to find the person who did it but often fail because they lack any experience.
The only thing they succeed in is imprisoning people for posts on Facebook, Instagram and so on. They can fight against unarmed protesters but as soon as they encounter armed resistance they fail spectacularly.
With absence of police force crime rates are really high, but to make people believe that everything is ok government-controlled mass-media pushes agenda that police reports about incredibly low crime rates (which is caused by their ability to make you not press charges) which is an amazing achievement of the current president.
