  1. Reality doesn’t reflect their beliefs, so they’ve abandoned it.

They don’t have popular ideas, so they’ve rejected democracy.

Judging by Elmos latest stunt of blocking those leaked Trump docs he will probably block anything of fact related to the election come November.

Just enough to stir the pot and get the crazies on all sides frenzied then those at the top will start to question if the election is really valid.

  3. Anyone remember when this Reddit was about Technology instead of political posts pushing propaganda against one party or the other?

    SMH.

  4. I think Elon truly spew far right rhetoric on that site. I have a relatively untouched account where I follow mostly film stuff AND it always add a random hateful tweet on it that I have barely any idea of. You could cleanse your feed by just blocking a lot of those account but it just keeps coming back.

Though some of the bots are controlled. Funnily enough I think it might be connected to some of the Chinese companies in my country who happens to have been actively trolling in the last few elections.

  5. it’s weird seeing the right have a presence on social media, usually everywhere online (like reddit) is very left leaning

  6. It’s like the weird early 2000s conspiracy site writ large, the common clay sure falls for stupid shit

  7. This is how Trump and MAGA lose Independent and Moderate Republican voters. Harris is using MAGA to push voters to her.

  8. Yeah Elmo fired the entire content department when he purchased twitter…. my child worked in that department.

  9. The right has primed their flock to not trust trusted news media so they shouldn’t be surprised that their flock now trusts garbage

  10. So what would it take to disconnect from the platform? We need to do it, but how?

Almost all sports news is on there.  And many local governments and news organizations also seem to rely on it.

It is pastime to move on from Musk and his influence.  But how do we do that as a society? Why aren’t there significant competitors in this market?

  11. What happened to the exodus of advertisers? Maybe consumers should note the companies who still support a megaphone of misinformation.

  12. Videodrome predicted this. Neil Postman predicted this. Multiple Roman, Greek and even Egyptian philosophers predicted this. Not all Republicans are insane, but a very certain and specific class of them have chosen to live outside the real world. In their world, television (or rather, twitter) is reality. Truth is whatever they are served. They don’t want truth and have no use for it. Truth subjugates them into the system, they just want the freedom to be complete morons and force others down to their level.

The internet, as we wanted it, no longer exists with these people as they are. The government needs to step in and regulate mass media again, if they don’t then real world political violence becomes inevitable.

  13. Becoming??? “I read on the internet …” has been the preface to every MAGAhat hallucinatory justification for being a fascist piece of shit since “long-form birth certificate” entered the lexicon (courtesy of Mango Mussolini, et al Beth.

  14. They have weaponized lies to create and fester doubt. Truth is now anyone’s guess what is or isn’t believed.

Some just want to watch the world burn.

I didn’t see the phrase Misinformation Crisis anywhere in the news article. It’s important we use an easy to describe and easy to use phrase to describe what is happening. We need to hammer home this is not normal.
