India has become the second-largest supplier of restricted critical technologies to Russia, with exports of items like microchips and machine tools surging to $95 million in July 2024, according to US and EU officials. These goods, crucial for Russia’s military-industrial complex, now account for nearly 20% of its sensitive imports. Despite Western efforts to curb such trade and ongoing diplomatic discussions, India’s role as a supplier has grown, compounded by its position as a major buyer of Russian oil. This has raised concerns among Western allies, who are seeking to balance their strategic partnerships with India while enforcing sanctions aimed at restricting Russia’s access to vital technologies.

Also is it just me or does 95 million worth of trade sound very small?
