“Club 77, a late-night destination on William Street in Darlinghurst for the past 25 years…”

I love Club 77 but parties til 4am Monday every single week would be really rough for residents living next to the club. Friday & Saturday though, go for it!

If you’ve ever been to 77, you’d know how overboard that is – it’s not a huge venue, pouring that many cops down the stairs into a smallish space without a complaint/reason for investigation screams intimidation.
>(Senior Constable) Flook was looking into whether there were more than 20 people in the queue for the venue after 2am, whether people in the queue were standing more than two abreast, whether the club’s pass-out system was working as required and whether it was open longer than permitted.
I guess sending 13 cops to check such matters of public import as whether people queuing up to get in were standing more than two abreast is essential policing duties.

Fucking scumbags ruining the every last bit of nightlife Sydney has left.

I had some great times here as a teen, when you could smoke inside and no one really checked IDs

Lol I didn’t realise why Sydney had no nightlife. Everyone who’s turned 18 since the lockout began, there’s nothing you’ve missed in Sydney. Wow, how bad has Sydney nightlife been since the lockout. Looks like it’s not changing either. Good luck trying to have a club open all night in Sydney, or on days besides Thursday at the ivy, Fridays and Saturdays elsewhere. The lights will be on before you could say quidditch

We should have a new vehicle licence plate slogan. NSW: The Police State.

NSWPol – busy with the big issues 😐
Funny, cause on Thursday their line was:
>”Let cops be cops again” that’s the key message from the NSW Police Association today with almost 2000 officers in parts of the state refusing to perform non-core policing duties in the past 12 days.
>
>They say non-essential jobs such as truancy and welfare checks – as well as protests, including the weekly pro-Palestinian demonstrations – have had an impact on resources.
