North Korea claimed that South Korea carried out a drone infiltration into Pyongyang and disseminated anti-regime propaganda leaflets.
In a statement by the North’s foreign ministry spokesperson as carried by the state media on Friday, the regime claimed that Seoul flew drones into the skies of Pyongyang at nighttime on October 3, 9, and 10 for the propaganda activity. The North also released photos of the claimed drones and leaflets.
Lambasting the South for infiltrating what could be regarded as means of a military attack into its capital city, the North said it is a “serious military attack” which Seoul must pay a price for.
Calling the infiltration a “political and military provocation,” Pyongyang said its military has begun preparations to respond to a development in the situation and has a posture to immediately execute all means of attack.
The regime threatened an immediate response without an advance warning should Seoul repeat the infiltration.
Following the announcement, the North floated trash balloons south of the border for the 28th time this year.
