Russia’s top envoy to the United States has ended his term, leaving behind an ominous forecast about the risk of deteriorating bilateral ties escalating into a nuclear-armed clash over the ongoing war in Ukraine in an exclusive interview with Newsweek.

The Kremlin announced on Thursday that Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov had been officially relieved of his duty after seven years of service. In the lead-up to his departure, Antonov spoke with Newsweek about the troubled state of relations between Moscow and Washington, which show no signs of improving as the war in Ukraine continues and NATO doubles down on military support for Kyiv amid recent advances by the Russian military.

  2. Perhaps he should discuss with his handlers the possibility of ending their invasion of Ukraine? If he’s truly that concerned.

And there I was just thinking ‘I haven’t heard a threat of nuclear war from ruzzia for a couple of days – I need something to perk me up.’ And they dutifully provide right on time.

  4. Man, the surgeons in Moscow need to do overtime to remove Putin’s Hand out of that man’s rectum, once he is back in Moscow.

I think that only thing Putler wants is war. He wants to be remembered and this is the way to do it. He is just afraid that someone might ninjabomb him in the process.

  6. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t believe a word of it and is simply ensuring his safe retirement back home

  7. Russia should be scared of the most powerful military alliance the world has ever seen in NATO, not the other way around. The louder they threaten the weaker they actually are.

Russia is one of the few country gain from Climate Change, there would be alot of migration to Russia… There is no way US and Allies allow Her to regain strength after this War.

It look like Russia Common folk should chose it’s future wisely, I guess. 🤖🍩☕

  9. If you could do another Chernobyl, that would would be great!

We are still laughing at that one.

  10. This targeted narrative to receptive and primed “audiences” says less about what the Kremlin is prepared to do and more about what it fears in the face of messaging no one finds believable enough to alter course from decisions that hurt Putin and the Kremlin where they hurt. Chiefly it will be the threat to their continuing existence when the price for their own failure in Ukraine comes due.

Putin fears death and its consequences. Calling Putin a “survivor” is effectively describing him as a coward afraid of dying for anything. It’s why Russians are dying in droves for an outcome he can’t achieve. It’s pointless threatening the one nation that has used nuclear weapons. The U.S. has already guaranteed it understands the terms and knows how to use them.
