A reminder to Optus customers: make sure to cancel-threaten. They must be losing customers.

  1. If it’s a mobile service just port your number to a new provider, i was pleasantly surprised to only get a cordial “sorry to see you go”

  2. You know the amount they’re overcharging must be insane if they can afford to offer six months free just for the chance that you won’t cancel after. For essential services like these, there should be limits on what they can charge.

I usually tell them in going to prison for a long time for murder. They tend to not ask questions after that.

  4. Look it would be nice to have as an option if I actually got any reception at home (in a major metro) but can’t even get decent voice service. And their customer support is beyond shit.

Oh yeah, and that data breach.

  5. Yep just cancelled my NBN as I’d already signed up to Aussie and ordered a new router. NBN 250 for $105 p/m (less than I was paying for NBN100 with floptus.

‘Sorry to hear you want to cancel, as a valued customer instead of a cancellation Can I interest you in a ‘discounted’ 12 month plan and I’ll waive the device charges on a new router (the same one I already had lmao) for $115 p/m (was already paying $110) would this be suitable?’

Fcken hell yeah brother where do I sign up?! Want me to save you the trouble this time and send my new ID details directly to the Russian hackers for you?!

Hope they are losing customers and they go bust. Cunts 🖕

I have a series of about 10 screenshots of me losing my fucking mind as I tried to get the fuckwit at Optus to actually do as I asked & cancel the service that I no longer wanted, not continually ask if I want to continue with their shitty service. Fucking infuriating.

Had the exact same experience with Telstra recently. I had to ask SIX different times to ask them to cancel a service before they did.

Top tip – Ctrl C your request first time so you can keep copying and pasting it.

The fact that I had to talk to someone to cancel my mobile broadband service is crazy. They were quite happy to let me sign up with no interaction.

Leaving them for superloop and Optus is refusing to port over my stuff for 3 weeks. Screw you optus

Last year their retention team gave me a phone that had signal issues that cost me a months wages that they refuse to reimburse or a new phone under warranty

  10. I buy one year prepaid for 320 bucks. No plan. Been doing this for years now and I can not understand how anyone pays any more than that for a fucking phone service. Most plans are an absolute rip-off, from all carriers.

  11. Was with Optus for a whole year, the coverage in the blue mountains NSW was horrendous. Their customer service was terrible (over the phone).

Been with Vodafone since 2022, absolutely perfect reception (Given i live within City NSW). Cannot recommend them enough. Paying $40 for 200gb, including international calls for free with a student discount.

  12. This was me with Foxtel when I first figured out how to get US Netflix working (this was before Netflix was available in Australia). The lower they kept offering, the angrier I got because it just showed how bad the rip-off had been.

Told optus I was cancelling because for the same price, I could stay with optus and get 30gb or change to Vodafone during a promo and get 300gb. The rep in the chat box didn’t even try to offer me anything because she knew she couldn’t offer anything worth while to make me stay.
