Hello Everybody. This summer I had the chance to visit Albania. We went to Berat, Girokaster, Ksamil and Tirana all by car. The country is so beautiful, people were very friendly and genuinely curious why an American would pick Albania as a vacation spot which I found very interesting. My response is I wanted to travel to a country I didn’t know much about and I have a couple of Albanian descent coworkers who guided me a bit. I’m a bit of a history nerd so I started reading about Albanias history and the many great things and tragedies that have occurred over the recent past. Needless to say Albania intrigued me a lot once I arrived. One experience that impacted me was when in Berat, I was driving around town and noticed a small cemetery with really old graves between Berat and Vila Ramaj/Duhanas. I stopped to have a look and noticed two gravestones that seemed newer than the rest. When I looked, it was graves of two young brothers that died in the 1980’s 10 days apart. I don’t know why this impacted me so much. I’ve tried to research more about what was going on in the area that could have caused the death of these boys to put into historical context. Is there anywhere I can get more information in English about these deaths or any information on what was happening in the area during the time? Picture for reference.

  1. This happened during communism, so it’s rather unlikely that you will find something online from back then

  2. I doubt that there’s any information considering it’s in the 80s. But could you provide the surname of the brothers, please? Maybe that could give a clue.
