  1. This is not elaborate at all. Instead, she’s massively stupid. The news story should be “Very stupid adult fails to maintain control of life assets and instead donates them to strangers online.”

  2. everydayintrovert on

I’m sorry this woman lost her money but writing fake reviews for hotels ( for a fake business) is on the nose.

  3. MaryN6FBB110117 on

She was happy to write fake reviews, but is shattered to discover it’s not a legit business? Idiot.

  4. MediumForeign4028 on

The most damming aspect of this is that she was prepared to write fake reviews for hotels.

  5. A good 50% + of scams are on people being greedy and diving into ‘too good to be true’ money making schemes.

That was the quickest I’ve ever lost sympathy for someone in my entire life.

“I want money for my big party. I know! I’ll write fake reviews that people will book their real holidays based on, because it’s all about ME and MY big day!”

The gofundme: “I was involved in an online investment scam where they stated I could make an online income which isn’t necessarily an unusual way of making money these days”

Wow, she sure spun that to her advantage. I guess “I wanted to scam people but not get scammed myself” doesn’t have the same ring to it.

  7. No-Country-2374 on

Shame she chose to gamble her wedding fund away. Perhaps it should have been used for the wedding plans….

  8. The term Sucked In doesn’t get used enough these days. What was she expecting? And to have the audacity to start her on scam by starting a gofundme is fucking W I L D

  9. Yeah yeah, collective responsibility on all of us to support those who might not have had access to the same education, and thus fall for these scams. yeah yeah, it’s the banks fault and the need to “stop this from happening”…. honestly there comes up point when for me personally, people need to take responsibility for their own actions. To call yourself a victim here is a giant fucking stretch.

    >*By the time she had completed all the reviews she had spent about $300. The money, plus $50 in commission, was transferred back to Campbell the next day through a Crypto trading platform.*

    >***Unfortunately, Campbell took this as a sign the company was real.***

    Jesus christ.

    >*“I (was) pressured into continuing and by the time I completed my reviews I had spent just under $35,000.”*

    >*Once Campbell was finished, she was then informed she needed to pay $10,000 to upgrade to a “pro” reviewing account.*

    >*A further $26,000 was then required to actually withdraw it.*

    >*“I said ‘I don’t have another $10,000 plus $26,000, I’m not rich’,” Campbell said.*

    >*“It came to the point where I realised I’d been scammed.”*

If you’ve dumped 35k into something of free cash, you are already above where most people are at. Some would call you rich already.

    >Campbell has [set up a fundraiser for herself](https://www.gofundme.com/f/i-was-a-victim-of-a-scam-and-now-my-dreams-are-crushed?cdn-cache=0) to try to recuperate her lost money.

That reads as a giant victim complex.

    >The post was an advertisement for an online job with Virtuoso, a legitimate travel company, writing **fake reviews for hotels**, which Campbell thought she could easily do.

Who would have thought that getting paid to write fake reviews could go wrong?😂

She even had the nerve to setup a Gofundme page to try to recover the money she lost.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed. A bit of research on the word ethics should have prevented this happening

  12. QouthTheCorvus on

Holy fuck, the amount of red flags she blew through is insane.

$100k to write fake reviews. C’mon man… It’s just not realistic lol.

Then needing to pay to do it. How would that make any sense???? Why would it cost money to post reviews? Just strange.

Being paid in crypto the first time… Conveniently untraceable.

The huge amount she racked up after that… She got far too deep into it before she had any sort of critical thinking. Just insanely stupid.

  13. Wtf is going on with the 7news website? There’s ads popping up, an ad banner and two ads between each paragraph.

  14. Inevitable_Wind_2440 on

Um no, not feeling at all sorry for someone who got scammed when they themselves were dishonest and set out to scam other people themselves. She got what she deserved and I hope it’s a lesson [an expensive one] for her.

  15. She was fine with being part of a scam when she thought she was on the getting paid side of it. No sympathy.

  16. ComprehensiveRide246 on

I deal with this thing everyday. Yes, people are that fucking stupid with their money.

  17. First of all, she accepted a “job” that was so fucking unethical in every sense. Writing fake online reviews for hotels she had never been to.

Payment through crypto platforms. The reg flag was waving right there in front of her face. Real employers need to pay your bank account, tax, provide a payslip. Uh….

Now she wants the bank to pay her back and people to be sympathetic? I just can’t.

“Woman willingly deposits $35,000 into a online strangers account with the promise she’ll get it back threefold”

  19. A mate of mine fell for this , in the same exact manner. He thought it was legit after his first refund. I will never stop giving him shit about it for the rest of his life.

  20. If your fiancé get’s scammed out of $35,000 of your wedding money due to her own greed, the best thing you can say to her is: “It’s ok honey. We didn’t need that money anyway. The wedding is off. And I’m off too. Good luck with your life.”

  21. “Im sorry i got scammed while trying to scam other people. Please send me money” this woman

  22. I’m sure some goofball will argue the government or bank should take responsibility for this.

  23. No way this actually happened. I swear these news stories are AI generated for click bait.

How do you go from ok here’s a few hundreds bucks (idiot) to “ok sure here’s $35,000 random internet stranger”.

  24. Idiotic. Scammer got scammed. You were writing FAKE reviews as a scam and then they got scammed, this is comedy gold.

  25. No sympathy for her at all. Can’t believe she has the nerve to try fundraising he money back from other people

  26. She posted an update in the gofundme and she’s not happy about people’s lack of sympathy.

    >The backlash I’ve copped from the news interviews has been absolutely horrendous and is making me lose faith in humanity, simply trying to stop this from it happening to someone and making the choice to try and get it out as far as possible, im not the only one that has been affected by this exact scam, I’m just trying to do something about it, sure I expected there was going to be backlash and those who don’t know how it feels and couldn’t care, but what I do know is I have so many lovely clients who I care for, friends and family and co workers who can vouch for who I truely am as a person and that’s what matters to me

  27. No-Zucchini2787 on

Dumbass did dumb shit. Got taste of her own medicine.

Corrected the title for you 7 news.

  28. ShowUsYaGrowler on

‘You need to topup money into your review account’

Reads like ‘ive called the internet and there wasnt enough megabytes for that to go through’

  29. FlameHawkfish88 on

Usually I feel bad for people who get scammed. But she must have known that what she was doing was dishonest.

But you know, she’s always giving back to the community by providing false reviews for hotels and shit. Oh and working with aged and disabled populations who are more vulnerable to scams.

The go fund me edit is the kicker where she says she’s losing faith in humanity because people aren’t sympathetic about her bad choices. Grow up Ashleigh.
