Biden denounces Trump's criticism of disaster-related funds as 'lies' US President Joe Biden has condemned former President Donald Trump for promoting disinformation over the government’s handling of disaster-related funds.

Trump has been criticizing the Biden administration, saying it is giving illegal migrants almost all of the money that should go to people affected by Hurricane Helene.

The hurricane made landfall in late September and caused tremendous damage from floods and landslides mainly in southern states including North Carolina.

Trump argued that the government is offering only 750 dollars to the disaster-hit people, calling it “the worst rescue operation in the history of the US.”

Biden denied Trump’s claim on Wednesday at a disaster response meeting at the White House.

He said, “Former President Trump has led his onslaught of lies.” He also said, “There has been a reckless, irresponsible, and relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people.” He added, “It’s undermining confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work,” and “It’s harmful to those who need help the most.”

Disaster response has emerged as a new campaign issue in the presidential election which is less than a month away. The topic is drawing attention as another major hurricane has made landfall in Florida and could cause major damage.
