  1. As someone who’s picked a few executives’ brains about this, when you say this is a strategy to turnover senior staff or close the business cheaply, you’re giving them too much credit. It’s a personal belief in ‘culture’ informed by their circlejerk conversations with other rich people who binge self-help, and it’s about control. They lost 24/7 control of the worker in Covid, and they became micromanagers to compensate. These people actually feel uneasy if they can’t physically see you. And now they’re going to take a production hit because every pillar of our society is run by the dumbest rats in the Skinner box.

    Its not all about empty offices, high vacancy rate are preventing rent increases. The more that businesses push for their workers to return to the office the higher their rents will become.
