  1. Kinda crazy how many people subscribed to this sub don’t know what HDI is. HDI maps get posted all the time. But maybe I just need to get off reddit.

  2. Delaware is really underperforming despite all the offshore tax money stored there.

Maps need a key, a title, and a reason why I should give a damn. Some actual data would be nice instead of just above / below. Why did this even get posted?

  4. 18/25 of the Low HDI states are red states. 5/25 of the Low states are purplish/swing states. Does this not quite convincingly tell us something about conservative policy in America.

  5. I’m a GIS professional and liberal through and through but I would place more value in the raw data used to create this and not the self-affirming message this map provides.

  6. This isn’t a really helpful map. How far from average are these states? May not be a meaning difference.

It’s like say x states are above the avg weight snd y stated are below it but they are all within 3 lbs of it. Not really saying anything IMO.

  7. PSA don’t use domain specific acronyms initialisms or jargon in your title and on your map, without define them.

Do we really have to say this…?

A large reason why most of the higher HDI states are blue is because school/college education years largely contribute to the HDI number. The wealthy/upper-class tend to vote democrat; a majority people who are wealthy enough to afford 4+ years of college vote blue.
