I don't think it's being reported correctly in the news.
My cousin said he saw him very still underwater. Then came up for food and when he returned to swim the guy was still there. When they brought him up he was limp and they stopped performing CPR after a very short while.
Other bystanders/swimmers said they also saw him under the water and didn't realise until they brought him up a long time after.

Got taken away by an ambo.
Edit: My little cousin, who is just a kid, didn't realise anything was wrong until he saw him a second time. Alarm bells were raised at that time.

If that was me someone’s life is more important than food. Turn it around and put yourself in his situation , what would you want someone to do?

It’s so concerning that allegedly many people can see someone very still under the water for a length of time and not raise a red flag to the lifeguards on duty. Like you really don’t have to do much, just ‘hey, anyone check on that dude over there’. I don’t know, humanity dropped the ball that day.

  3. I was taught in first aid to never stop CPR until an ambulance arrives, no exceptions.

That is so distressing. I hope he recovers. I was there yesterday with my son in the kiddy area, it was so packed it was like a can of sardines.

The old saying is very true: when everybody is watching, no one is watching.

  5. Years and years ago, I helped a guy pull out another guy who had drowned at Southbank. It was horrible. We got the lifeguards attention and brought the guy over to them. They then put a curtain around him and then an ambulance came. I hope he made it

  6. I saw the ambulance from the opposite side of the river yesterday. Are you saying you think he died and the news is incorrectly reporting that he’s still alive?
