This is okay because rice is the only grain -apart from sweet&ordinary potatoes, that is, apparently- that Korea domestically produces more than domestic demand, up to the point where the gov’t asks farmers to grow less of them to keep the prices up, while they attempt to vamp up export options. However Korea has damning deficits in stuff like wheat and corn, where it only domestically produces 0.7%! of wheat consumption and 3.6%! of corn consumption. Even if we factor in stuff like the fact that corn is usually used as animal feed, it’s still an interesting- and alarming- number.
