  1. That’s very sweet and naive of him to think that Trump supporters are going to listen to the federal government.

  2. From the article: “There is a very reasonable chance I would put it in the 20 to 30% range, that the content you are seeing, the comments you are seeing, are coming from one of those three countries: Russia, Iran, China,” Kelly said.

New Reddit politics I spy game—try to figure out which 20-30% of comments are from Russia, Iran, or China.

Sad thing is… MAGA folks don’t care. You can tell em that Trump is a russian asset and always has been… and they are fine with that.

    And thats the real problem.

  4. I hope that Arizona is listening when their astronaut, hero, twin, rockstar of a husband and senator give them a heartfelt warning, in good faith.

I’m not gonna lie, despite Walz doing a terrific job, I can’t help but wonder “what if” Harris had gone with Mark Kelly instead.

Especially because, no matter which way you slice it, with either pick for VP, it’s the American citisenry who stand to win for a change.

  5. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mark-kelly-arizona-election-misinformation/) reduced by 74%. (I’m a bot)

    > Washington – Sen. Mark Kelly said Sunday that the federal government needs to do its part to inform Americans of the vast swath of election misinformation that's being consumed on social media platforms like X, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

    > "It's up to us, the people who serve in Congress and in the White House to get the information out there, that there is a tremendous amount of misinformation in this election, and it's not going to stop on Nov. 5," Kelly said on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.”

    > "He's standing next to the guy that tried to overturn the 2020 election on Jan. 6, saying that this is somehow going to be the last election and they're going to take away your vote," Kelly said.

I agree, but let’s not completely discount all the work Trump and Vance have been doing to let Americans know that they’re a huge amount of misinformation out there about the election

We are smack in the middle of the largest and most successful PsyOp in history. Why it’s not screamed from the rooftops by FBI counterintel daily is something I just can’t understand.

  8. Untruth is a threat to our democracy.

If the only way you can win elections is by lying, then you shouldn’t run.

It’s sad that leaning to the right is more important to millions of people than actually being “right”.

Most news is neutral, not objective. They will tell you what both sides are saying, but will not always tell you which is factually correct.

  10. They know it’s happening. They know what it looks like. They know who is being targeted with what messages. And they’re not inoculating (or even attempting to) the American public. it’s not being effectively combatted or blocked. This is one of the biggest failures of government to protect American elections and democracy.

  11. It doesn’t help that Elon Musk owns one of the biggest social media platforms. Elevating all the idiot blue ticks and right-wing propaganda.

  12. I know two MAGA /Republican people. One of them always responds with “So what?” If I point out something bad trump does. The other days I’m not a fan of what trump has done but Kamala slept her way to her position. You’re not convincing those kinds of people otherwise.

  13. Bring on the hand-wringing and persecution complex if the government starts fact-checking

  14. The reality is, that a good portion of especially conservative people don’t care, since the propaganda they consume aligns with their worldview. They do want to believe that their hardship comes from migrants or the elites or the deep state. They don’t care for the real objective reason for their hardships (if they have any).
What they do care about is their own and their tribes perception.

But still, no matter what, there has to be a crackdown on misinformation.

  15. Even if it was agency policy to be more vocal, due to the Hatch act – you won’t have individual feds speaking up.

It’s getting pretty out of control. Just saw an article saying that Trump is good when obviously that’s not true. He’s bad.

  17. when the feds have tried to point out misinformation, conservatives cry wolf about freedom of speech, and corporations like Meta/Facebook send out those smarmy “we shouldnt have tried to suppress public health misinfo” letters to cozy up to the other party.
