  1. One of the most amazing weekends of my life chasing the Aurora Australis back in May. After seeing the alerts coming a couple days prior, I had planned to be camped out in the South West National Park to see it kick off in the early morning.
The first morning I woke up and saw some light outside coming inside my tent. Feeling pretty frustrated, thinking the sun must be about to come up soon and I had slept through my alarm, I unzipped my tent to see the most intense aurora display in 20 years.
I quickly got to shooting before packing up camp and hiking back out after sunrise to plan the next nights location.
I saw a clear spot on the cloud map and decided to head down to the south coast and shoot there. As soon as the sun went down the sky lit up again with massive red and green beams all around me.
Its still hard to describe the feeling of standing there with massive beams of light shooting up into the air above you, pulsing and swirling around for hours. Something I wont forget.
This image was taken from the southern most point of Australia where I hiked out to in the dark while watching the aurora pulse above me the whole way. It was bright enough I could walk around on the becah under a new moon with no head torch and see still. A pretty special night and feel quite lucky to have been there at the right time for.

  2. Beautiful!

As usual, Borealis got all the headlines. Thanks for representing team Australis!
