National Heroes, a Serb and an Albanian, who lived and died as brothers

Monument to national heroes Bora Vukmirović and Ramiz Sadiku in Landovica, Kosovo – erected in 1963, demolished after the war in Kosovo in 1999.

Boro Vukmirović and Ramiz Sadiku are two partisan national heroes from Kosovo. As pre-war communists, they became important organizers of the partisan movement on the territory of today’s Kosovo. They were caught and shot by Italians and Albanian collaborators on April 10, 1943 in the village of Landovici near Prizren.

Boro and Ramiz became a symbol of Serbian-Albanian brotherhood after the shooting – during which they refused to separate. Between 1945 and 1990, numerous institutions in Kosovo were named after them, SAP Kosovo once issued a merit plaque with their name, and in 1963 a monument was erected to them in Landovica, at the place of their martyrdom. The monument was demolished in 1999, and today there is a monument to the fallen members of the KLA in its place.
