'Shogun' lead actress Anna Sawai makes Time100 Next list US magazine Time has chosen Anna Sawai for its list of 100 rising stars who are shaping the future. Sawai won this year’s Emmy Award for best actress in the TV drama series “Shogun.”

The magazine’s list, which was announced Wednesday, highlights 100 emerging leaders in business, entertainment, sports, politics science, health and other fields.

“Shogun” which depicts a power struggle in feudal Japan, won 18 Emmy Awards — the most ever for a single season of a television series.

Sawai is the first Asian to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Sanada Hiroyuki, the lead actor and producer of the series, said, “Anna Sawai could play any role on this earth, or in space.” He added that the effort Sawai put into creating her character was “incredible” and he expects she will become a “bigger, and bigger” star.
