(Ok sorry I forgot to read the rules of the sub so the first post got removed, so here are translations in english.)

Demolition of illegal constructions in Croatia region Istria has started, a big part of these buildings are owned by Slovenian owners, which is why I am sharing the news. People are building small houses for holiday purposes and this illegal activity is so widespread that they are basicaly creating small villages/favelas. Predictions are that there are around 50 000 (!) illegal buildings in Istria alone, and so this is a process that will take a long time to get done.

"On Wednesday, the building inspectorate began demolishing houses in the Mandriol settlement that do not have a building permit. The owners of most of these are Slovenians, who watched in despair as their houses collapsed." https://necenzurirano.si/clanek/svet/hrvati-rusijo-pocitniske-hisice-v-istri-slovenci-obupani-1373544

Additionally, below are some quotes from croatian websites since according to the sub rules this is allowed ("Quotes, lyrics, and similar short-form text is allowed in any language."), so together with the source I’m posting english translation).

"A part of the illegal builders in Istria, who are mostly Slovenian citizens, cannot come to terms with the fact that they simply broke the law and that their buildings will someday be demolished." "They did not remove the objects themselves, but most of them decided to appeal the decision. After that move, they received warnings and fines three times, which they ignored, and the construction inspection is clear – an appeal does not delay the demolition. … Watching their cottages turn into rubble, they are aware that this story will cost them dearly. Considering that they did not remove the building themselves according to the first solution, if their appeal in court is not successful, they will have to pay three fines of around 15,000 euros, and the cost of demolition and removal of the material in the amount of approximately 10,000 euros." So this is just the beginning of the demolition of illegal construction, dear neighbours 🙂 And I guess this is a warning to those who plan to buy a house here, as most of these are illegally built buildings, so be careful not to be deceived.

How many illegal buildings are actually owned by citizens of Slovenia, percentage wise?

The problem is the legalization of construction in Croatia. We Slovenians are aware of it. The idea that only Slovenians are involved is, of course, an illusion.

We know very well how things went under Branko Bačić, and we know who Kuščević is.

The process of legalization in Croatia was poorly managed. To be honest, it is still poorly handled, and the chaotic and outdated Croatian system is continually being exploited. Everyone tries to take advantage of the system for their own benefit.

As for the municipality of Vodnjan, I wouldn’t even waste words on it. What happens there (on both sides) is unbelievable. From all the illegal constructions that have essentially set up camps or “gypsie settlements” in the middle of the forest, to the grand estates and villas that were legalized overnight without issue, and even private individuals privatizing public and private parking spaces with the help of the municipality. Not to mention that the municipality itself operates at the level of organized crime.

It becomes clear that Croatians don’t want Slovenians, and more and more Slovenians are turning away from Croatia.

Of course, these issues first emerged in Istria, which is the most developed, but similar ugly things are happening on Krk as well.
