More than 2,000 killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon The Israeli government has indicated that it will take countermeasures against Iran’s recent missile attack, and is stepping up its offensive against the Tehran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Israeli military has been carrying out airstrikes in Lebanon, and has launched a ground operation in the south of the country.

Fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah has been escalating since last October.

The Lebanese government says since then more than 2,000 people have died, with nearly 10,000 injured.

More than a million people have been forced from their homes.
Officials at the United Nations say most of the nearly 900 shelters set up by the government are at full capacity.
They say people are sleeping out in the open, on streets or in parks.
