  1. Only a month and Republicans will totally forget about the hurricane and the people affected by it.

  2. The world’s second dumbest billionaire, Musk, is also going all in on FEMA conspiracies. It’s crazy the amount of anger and resentment they’re creating.

  3. Social media is unbelievable.
The conspiracies that people are pushing are wild.
How desperate is maga to politicize a tragedy?

How do people just believe random things so easily?  It’s a cult, it has to be, I cannot fathom how gullible and unaware these people I used to know are.

I’ve heard on a podcast recently (maybe Jon Stewart) that the answer is not to censor misinformation but to have AI do live fact checking.  This might be the only way besides keyboard warriors having to fight over the dumbest conspiracies.

  4. Is he really getting slammed though? Every time I see him he’s telling lie after lie completely unchecked by the “reporter” asking him the question.

  5. Trump gets slammed for the sun coming up in the morning. All these anti Trump stories are getting ridiculous and boring.

“Trump Slammed Over Hurricane Helene ‘Lies’

    How this hurts Kamala Harris.

    On the next Newsweek.”

  7. The entire narrative from the right about this has been bullshit. All the leaders in those areas have said they’re getting the help they need and Fox News is telling people Biden is doing nothing.

  8. Can we at least slam him harder than all the previous slams? All this slamming is getting monotonous

He is basically rooting against America for his Political aspirations. LOSER

He may get a chance for an encore, there might be another storm hitting Florida this week.

    Really?

Perception is different from reporting, at least online.

I see people posting memes about “Billions for Ukraine, but FEMA is out of money for Americans.”

And when I pointed out that the GOP actually voted a few hours before the hurricane hit to defund FEMA…I’m told I’m making it up even when I provide proof.

  12. Slammed, bashed, destroyed, eviscerated, decimated!!! Wouldn’t it be great if somewhere there were was actually some sort of wrestling match between politicians and these articles weren’t just being sensational.

  13. Just waiting for a nice compact CAT 5 to make a Mar-a-Lago landfall. Come on climate change! Throw one for the team.

  14. I hope you do consider that Donald Trump’s Project 2025:
    – Eliminates FEMA
    – Eliminates the National Weather Service
    – Eliminates federal-backed flood insurance
    – Eliminates emergency disaster funding for state/local govts

    I hope you’ll vote accordingly!

The thing that scares me the most, is his followers aren’t hearing or seeing anything saying these are false claims and lies.

My Dad told me on the phone yesterday about all the good work Trump is doing over there and Biden/Kamala haven’t done anything and all the FEMA money went to the illegals.

I tried to tell him this wasn’t true at all, and Trump is using this as a political stunt and is lying his ass off. But he says that’s not true and what I’m hearing is fake news.

Funny how he criticized the current admin for not going to NC (even though they did shortly after) and then he now says he won’t go because he doesn’t want to be a strain on resources. Either he doesn’t remember what he said a few days ago or he intentionally lies. Likely both!

Goddamn, Newsweek – why do you put ‘Lies’ inside quote marks?! They’re LIES and should be clearly identified as such, not mealy mouthed about to indicate that they might not be lies. Why is the press so reluctant to identify Trump and his defenders as the liars they actually are?

Got something in the mail today. It says PRES BALLOT ;). *lightsaber moves with pen*

lets take em to (real) church!

Literally, getting my right wing family’s texts about it at 7AM this morning. I supplied screenshots and links about congress not passing funds 2 weeks ago.

The responses: “Biden shouldn’t be giving our money away!”

Final screen shot is of the infamous “Spending Clause” of the constitution, and I’ve muted the chats until November. I’m over this.

  20. Kamala is done. This hurricane and her response to it sank her campaign. It’s a bigger blunder than Bush’s Katrina.

  21. “As Helene approached the U.S. last week, Congress passed an additional $20 billion in FEMA disaster relief funding. The only lawmakers to vote against the funding were Republicans.

While the Biden administration has not diverted any FEMA money to migrants, Trump himself faced criticism for diverting FEMA funds to detain migrants while he was president.”

    Every accusation is a confession.

  22. Slammed? Really someone picked the fucker up and just did what’ve we’ve been wishing for? Or did someone have a strongly worded response which is very different from “slammed”

  23. SLAMMED!!!! Lol like Trump gives a fuck? He’s got a brain dead army behind him that doesn’t give a shit what he says or does. It’s kind of actually fucking scary.

His lies are vicious, but his incompetence is staggering. Listening to All Things Considered on NPR yesterday. They have his ‘comments” on Helene. cue audio- “Two hundred families have died. This was the biggest storm in our nations history.” Families have died? It was a horrendous storm with over 200 fatalities, and that number likely to up as 400 are still missing, but Katrina? 1300. Not a single response on NPR. Just like this is normal. He has no idea what he’s even talking about.
