Republican Liz Cheney campaigns with Democratic candidate Harris A former Republican congresswoman has campaigned with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris at a rally ahead of the November 5 US presidential election.

Liz Cheney, a fierce critic of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, spoke at the event on Thursday in the battleground state of Wisconsin.

She is a daughter of Dick Cheney, who was vice president under former President George W. Bush. She was a senior Republican member of the House of Representatives, but became a bitter critic of Trump after the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by his supporters.

Cheney said she has never voted for a Democrat before, but she is “proudly” casting her ballot for Vice President Harris this year.

She criticized Trump, saying he intended to remain president rather than accept his loss and concede defeat in the 2020 election. Cheney said, “Any person who would do these things can never be trusted with power again.”

Harris told supporters at the rally, “No matter your political party, there is a place for you with us and in this campaign.” She pledged to become a “president for all Americans.”

The latest polls show the election will be a close contest. Harris is apparently hoping to win the support of moderate Republicans and non-affiliated voters.
