Unbelievable that the councils can have this lack of humanity. Starmer will resolve this

Is there not quite a large elephant in the room missing in this article that would go some way to explaining why this is happening

  3. As someone who was homeless at 16 I thought I might be able to give some insight here but, reading the article, I’m not really sure I have anything that relevant to say. The council gave me accommodation quite quickly, after just a few weeks, and I suspect that’s because I skipped to the top of the queue due to be 16. I spent most of my time hanging out with the other homeless kids. Everyone had quite grim stories that led us there.

We’ve got hotels for people who break the law to come here illegally but God forbid we help our own young

  5. Oh yeah, when i was homeless 3 years ago for 3 months ans the council did absouletly nothing to help me. 26 year old male, they basically told me i am the lowest priority. Meanwhile immigrants are housed in the hotels and bed and breakfasts a mile away.

  6. If there’s no room in social housing, surely the humanitarian thing to do would be to offer to put our homeless young people in those heated and comfortable hotels we’re always hearing about on the news?

Oh? We’re not doing that? That’s awfully strange. Maybe the homeless should check their privelages and try again!

If only councils had some form of means… say… idk… long term accommodation, in a building that has four walls and a roof, that could be provided at cost to people who are either homeless or on low incomes, etc.

No shit. Wonder if I throw away my ID, get on a small dingy, sail back around to shore…then I may get a hotel and food allowance.

Prioritizing illegal immigrants over taxpaying citizens is a heinously fucked ruling that must be unparalleled in history.

Its almost like cutting local authority funding, whilst having them responsible for an ever increasing social care budget to look after the growing elderly population is a recipe for disaster. Who knew!

  11. I spent alot of time homeless when very young, and had absolutely zero chance of getting somewhere safe to stay. It was only whenever I went through extreme violence in a government assisted bedsit that I got somewhere. That was a lifetime ago, I couldn’t imagine how hard it is now for young people in the same position
