It’s a real shame ice hockey will never be super popular due to the limited accessibility of ice along with the high cost of gear.

If this map is based on the popularity of the professional leagues or the box office of the games, then the most popular sport in South Korea is baseball.

It doesn’t seem to be based on its popularity as a lifestyle sport. If that were the case, it would be hard to explain American football in the US.

The football empire is much bigger than even the maximum size of British empire.

Britain exported their sports to almost the entire globe.

  4. It’s funny that despite being the most popular sport in the world by absolute miles, Football isn’t that embedded or impressive in the 3 most populous countries on earth.

  5. I swear British people are actually built different when it comes to inventing systems or organization of people

They invented common law, the Industrial Revolution, biggest empire in history, the language everyone speaks, and the sports everyone plays

  6. Gaelic football sounds mildly more interesting than either of the other types, kind of surprised it didn’t spread. Maybe it’s boring to watch? Also love that chinas favorite sport is an American invention lol

  7. As much as Bhutan loves Archery they’re shockingly poor at it at the Olympics. Outside the 2004 Olympics where both their male and female archers won their first round match, they’ve never made it past that first round or even past the ranking round when that was the qualification system.

I believe it’s because traditional styles of archery are more popular, but you’d assume that at least one of their archers would have made some kind of run.
