  1. Open source exists because of copyright protections. Companies are free to use open source software, as long as they follow the licensing rules, but they are not free to use trademarks.

    Many hosting companies have signed licensing agreements with Automatic regarding the use of WordPress trademark, and they are listed in the website as recommended hosting providers. They also don’t create artificial paywalls for features that are freely available on the open source version of WordPress.

  2. I get the feeling that just about every company would lose 8% of their workforce if they offered every employee the option to take $30,000 in severance to leave their job.
